The European Commission has recently included natural gas and nuclear energy in the EU taxonomy as a transition solution towards carbon neutrality. The decision revived the debate for and against expanding nuclear power. On the other hand, many countries believe it is critical to use nuclear technology to move away from coal and other fossil fuels. Topics to be discussed are, among others – the actual environmental impact; the cost and time of new projects; the geo political and security aspects; the development of the European science and innovation.
