About the event

Amid backlashes in the democracies in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, people remain interested in politics and actively look for innovative ways to participate in political and societal processes. As true support to democratic processes, digital instruments for deliberation, formulation, and submission of legislative initiatives immerge. All of those have the potential to supplement traditional policy-making by directly involving citizens and so to increase the legitimacy and quality of the decisions, and the democracy, as such.

This workshop aims to foster an exchange of good practices among practitioners who have developed and run digitally-based citizen deliberation and legislative initiative projects. It will outline the true potential of technologies to bring about a more inclusive citizen-driven legislature, while also offering concrete steps ahead towards its establishment as a formal and valuable tool.
