The war in Ukraine and the pandemic have exposed Europe’s vulnerability. The European Union needs to be more innovative, competitive, and sustainable if it wishes to adapt to new challenges, offering opportunities for all citizens and businesses to prosper. The European Union is well situated to become a leader in new technologies and their use for the benefit of its citizens and businesses. Digitalization is the key to a sustainable, free, secure, and successful Europe.

Successful digitalization requires adopting a series of laws that will better integrate our digital markets,
create a European digital identity, and improve our cyber resilience in an ever-changing environment full of threats. But we are only at the beginning of a long and challenging journey. We need to invest in people to make it easier for the young and old to work, learn, and find jobs in the EU. We must adopt policies that enhance people’s ability to be mobile, do business, and acquire new skills.
