Across Europe, young men and women are experiencing an unprecedented gender divide, with growing differences in their views on politics, relationships, and gender roles. Powerful forces – from social media algorithms and toxic influencers to dating apps – are pushing young people into separate worlds. This policy paper, developed as a result of a stakeholder meeting organised by the ELF on the topic, explores why this divide has emerged and presents liberal solutions. Rebuilding trust and mutual understanding between young men and women is not only about improving relationships, it is essential for the future of liberal democracy.
