The ELF Guide to Training and Facilitation is a practical handbook for anyone organising, facilitating, or training within the liberal network and beyond. Building on ELF’s first training guide from 2022, it walks readers through the full journey of designing and delivering effective sessions — from learning theory and programme design to interactivity, facilitation, and moderation at events of any scale. It offers concrete tools, ready-to-use templates, icebreakers, energisers, and event checklists, alongside real-world tips drawn from trainers and facilitators across Europe. With a strong emphasis on inclusivity and belonging, the guide shows how to create engaging, accessible, and participatory spaces where every voice is heard and diversity becomes a genuine strength.

Michał is a trainer, facilitator, and academic lecturer with over fourteen years of experi- ence in designing and delivering workshops and training programmes. He specializes in facilitation, group processes, and experien- tial learning, with a background in psycho- logical support and crisis intervention. He has worked extensively with political parties, think tanks, NGOs, and public institutions, developing and leading trainings on communication, leadership, and organi- zational development. He also delivers training-of-trainers programs, supporting facilitators in building effective and inclusive learning environments. Michał lectures at the Medical University of Warsaw and is the author and editor of publications on education, with a focus on diversity, equality, and professional training practice.
Martine is a trainer, facilitator, programme developer and project manager. She was the Head of International Office for D66, from 2016 to 2022. Since joining the party in 2002, she served on the National Board of the Young Democrats, worked in the European Parliament and at the HQ in the Campaign- and Talent Development Teams. Martine tried to take a break from politics in 2013–2016 and 2023–24. She managed a lodge in Mozambique, a wildlife centre in Malawi and worked for a tour operator in South Africa. All the while contributing to trainings and workshops for NGO’s and political organisations, mainly on the African continent. She branched out into online training and qualified as a yoga teacher. In training and facilitating, Martine focuses on interactive methodology and best practice sharing. She develops and delivers capacity building and training-of-trainer programmes, working with people of all levels to build confidence and bring out hidden talents.
