From the 5th of April 2023, Ailbhe (or Alva) Finn will take on the role of new Executive Director of the European Liberal Forum (ELF). Originally from Ireland, she is a passionate leader with over twelve years of experience in policy at the EU, UN and national levels. Alva is the outgoing Secretary General of Social Platform, the largest civil society network working on social and equality issues in Europe.
It is exciting to join the European Liberal Forum at such an important moment. ELF, as the political foundation of the ALDE Party, has real potential to generate and spread liberal solutions for Europe. I hope to increase the impact of ELF and make us the partner of choice when it comes to thinking ahead to a better future. I look forward to working with the liberal community - ELF member organisations, ALDE Party, and Renew Europe Group – to help deliver a winning liberal narrative.

Prior to Social Platform, Alva worked at Save the Children, Mental Health Europe, and the Irish Mission to the UN in Geneva. She also worked as a consultant with the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health and with refugees and asylum seekers in Cairo during the Arab spring. In her spare time, she campaigns for change, including leading successful diaspora campaign efforts during the Irish abortion referendum. You can follow her on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Dr Antonios Nestoras, the Interim Executive Director for the past six months, will take on the role of the Deputy Executive Director and will co-lead the European Liberal Forum with a strengthened policy & research pillar.
