As the liberal world order weakens, the US retreats from Europe’s security shield and Russia’s aggression in Ukraine persists, Europe must shift from soft to hard power to be a strong global player that can ensure the security of its own citizens and assert its economic and political interests in the increasingly multipolar world.

The Ralf Dahrendorf Roundtable (RDR) and workshop will take place on 6 June in Vilnius during Baltic Pride Week. Organised by the European Liberal Forum (ELF) with the support of the Liberal Democracy Institute (LDI), the event will address the defence of liberal democracy and the right to freedom of assembly amid rising populist threats.

The primary objective of this event is to develop recommendations that empower the European liberal movement to confront the rise of populist radical-right politics.

Workshop will bring together municipal leaders, policymakers, civil society organizations, and private sector representatives to discuss how cities—where the realities of migration are most visible—can take the lead in shaping effective integration strategies.

This will be a networking reception organized by the European Liberal Forum, in partnership with SILC and D66 International, as an opening event to the Alliance of Her MENA Chapter.
