Protecting democracy from the radical conservative transatlantic movement

This paper delves into the challenges faced by the liberal democratic systems of the European Union and North America, particularly in the context of an emerging transatlantic movement with radical tendencies. As we approach the crucial elections of 2024, this movement encompasses elements of illiberalism, authoritarianism, and regressive forces, operating on both sides of the Atlantic. A notable aspect is the cross-learning among these forces, as they collectively strategise on how to exploit vulnerabilities within Western democracies.

The paper concludes by offering recommendations on how liberals, democrats, and their allies can effectively counteract these actions and safeguard the foundations of Western democracies.
