The European Union’s sustainability strategy integrates many policies, such as the European Green Deal, Fit for 55, REPowerEU, and the Circular Economy Action Plan. Central to this approach is the Green Deal Industrial Plan, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, foster economic growth independent of resource use, and enhance environmental protection, industry development, and workforce skills.
Within the European Green Deal context, the ongoing discussion on the repair of goods represents an important step towards the circularity of our economy and an environmentally conscious approach to purchasing goods. Our next Stakeholders’ Dialogue ”Fixing the Future”, will assess the remaining technical, legal, and economic hurdles in ensuring affordable, efficient repair, such as overcoming complex product designs, limited spare parts, and restrictive intellectual property rights without imposing any burdens on the market.
